Don’t play the waiting game

You will lose.

Do you remember your new year’s resolution?

Did you make one?

It’s ok if you didn’t. Most who do, fail at them on average.

I am not here to debate the authenticity of the role these resolutions play in achieving our goals.

But we can certainly take a look at the time-specific nature of these resolutions.

Why do we wait for the new year to create a plan for ourselves?

Why don’t we do it in the middle of the year?

I don’t know for sure. Maybe it’s a new beginning for all the humans on earth. So we share that collective energy with each other. Or we consider 365 days as a phase of our life and we start the next phase on a clear notebook.

Whatever the reason may be, it’s no excuse to wait for an entire year to create your resolutions.

Ditch the waiting

Why should we wait to start on the path towards success?

We shouldn’t. We mustn’t.

Life offers us only one chance to play the game. Wasting it downplaying our potential is a huge mistake.

Raise your standards. Expect more from yourselves, today, not tomorrow or the day after, or in the new year.

Playing the waiting game is dangerous as it allows you to slack off for eternity. You will not realize until it’s too late to course-correct.

Waiting on your dreams is a foolish thing to do anyway.

Don’t wait, ACT.

Most people live in Tomorrowland. They wish to accomplish great things, tomorrow.

And you know what happens with tomorrow. It never comes.

Don’t be like most people, rise, act, and take control of your dreams in your own hands.

Picking the right goals

Waiting for the new year to provide you with the motivation to go for your goal means that your dreams are not worthy enough in the first place. You aimed too low and the dreams do not excite you enough.

It can also mean that you lost interest in your goals. It may be time to establish some new ones.

Interest and curiosity play big roles here. If you are genuinely interested in your goals then you wouldn’t need a new year to start chasing them.

You would start on them as soon as possible.

Pick the right goals and you would never ever need motivation. You would never wait for tomorrow.

Don’t wait on your goals.

Act now. Learn what works. Learn what doesn’t. Act again. Learn what works. Learn what doesn’t…..

This would ultimately lead you to your dreams fast, not waiting on the sidelines.

I write on my blog daily. This is day 43 of my daily writing challenge for 2022. I write on whatever interests me. There is no word limit. I am doing this simply to become a better writer. Tag along and follow my journey as I write every single day for an entire year
