In the Quantity vs Quality debate, Quantity wins every single time

Let’s settle this once and for all.

This is an age-old debate.

Whether you should go for quantity or quality? Which is better? Which one should you go for?

Many say quantity, others support quality.

What do I support?

I can say 100% I favor quantity.

In the quantity vs quality debate, quantity wins every single time.

Here are the reasons why you should choose quantity:

You are lazy

We are lazy beings. Until there’s a deadline for something we don’t do it. To support our laziness, our minds invented perfectionism. We mask our affinity for laziness with our fixation on perfection.

If you are a writer you will spend hours, days on a single article, in order to perfect it.

You will say to yourself that you want it to be perfect but deep down you know you are lazy and don’t ever intend to finish it.

When you aim for quality, you give yourself a way out to work slowly, strolling towards your goal.

Instead, when you aim for the quantity you will demolish your laziness and work because there is no other option.

The equal odds rule

I read about this rule in James Clear newsletter.

It states that:

The Equal Odds Rule says that the average publication of any particular scientist does not have any statistically different chance of having more of an impact than any other scientist’s average publication.

In the real world, it means that everyone is equally likely to produce a great product and a poor product.

This rule means that it's all a numbers game. When everyone is equally likely to produce a game-changing product or a useless one, the one who produces the maximum stands more chances of producing something great.

Then it all becomes about who took the maximum number of shots. Because whosoever does it, stands more chance of sticking a shot right.

You will produce garbage

When you start anything you will be bad at it or you will suck at it.

When you practice it daily you will suck less at it. Eventually down the line if you persist you will become good at it.

Your initial work will be substandard or garbage. That’s ok though. It should be that way.

Your job should be to get over that phase quickly. If you produce a huge amount of work, you will pass that initial stage quickly. You will become good sooner.

Quantity will breed clarity

The amount of work that you produce will help you choose your future path.

If you produce a large quantity of work then it will make your decision easier as to what direction you should choose in the future to build something great.

Most people are confused as to what they should do?

The answer is ACTION. When you act you learn. When you act consistently and with intensity, you gather a huge amount of data that then you can base your future decisions on.

Always choose quantity over quality.

Quantity will help you produce quality. As you become experienced by producing enough work you will make yourself worthy of producing quality.
