The one and the only cure of indecision

All of us are paralyzed by indecision at some point in our lives. If you are like me you just keep on pondering over a problem until you are immobilized by the burden of your own thoughts. What’s the remedy?

ACTION

DAILY CONSISTENT ACTION

This is the only thing that shall deliver you from your state of indecision and confusion. The more your ACT the clearer your path becomes. The road ahead will reveal itself to you if you just take one step at a time. Put one foot in front of the other and see the magic happen.

You don’t even need to take giant leaps. Just one small step will do. What matters is progress. If you keep doing that daily soon you will realise how far you have traveled from your initial starting point.

Move the needle even by an inch daily, and over the course of an entire year, you would have moved it full circle.

Think BIG, Act SMALL

Often we make the mistake of listening to self-help gurus out there start thinking and acting big.

Obviously, we need to think BIG but we need to act SMALL at the beginning. If we put ourselves under a lot of pressure by a promise of a grand goal then we are bound to feel the weight of it and eventually, we will stop taking action. Initially, we will be motivated but when life will throw problems in our way which it will we will slide back into our comfort zone.

The better way is to build yourself up by acting small but daily. That daily act will build our self-esteem and pretty soon we will be moving ahead at full speed.

Here’s what the great stoic philosopher Epictetus said about taking action:

“Now is the time to get serious about living your ideals. How long can you afford to put off who you really want to be? Your nobler self cannot wait any longer.

Put your principles into practice — now. Stop the excuses and the procrastination. This is your life! You aren’t a child anymore. The sooner you set yourself to your spiritual program, the happier you will be. The longer you wait, the more you’ll be vulnerable to mediocrity and feel filled with shame and regret, because you know you are capable of better.

From this instant on, vow to stop disappointing yourself. Separate yourself from the mob. Decide to be extraordinary and do what you need to do — now.”
